Niall started motorcycle racing at the age of twelve riding a polini mini-moto in the Scottish Mini-moto Championship run by McIntosh Mini-motos. 2004 was his first full season of competing and Niall won the trophy for most improved rider.

2005 was an excellent season. Niall won titles in three different classes of mini-moto - the first boy ever to achieve this. Niall was also awarded a helmet from Niall Mackenzie three times British Superbike Champion for his achievements in 2005.

In 2006 Niall broadened his horizons, competing in the British Mini-moto Championship as well as the Scottish Mini-moto Championship. Another two Scottish Titles followed and Niall finished third overall in the British Championship.

2007 marked Niall's progression into competition on a full size motorcycle. He went straight into the highly competitive Honda GP 125 class. Despite never having been to any of the tracks before, Niall finished fifth overall in the A.C.U. Dunlop Tyres Motostar Championship, achieving a second place qualifying position in the final round at Cadwell Park. In 2007 Niall also won the Kirckaldy and District Motorcycle GP 125 Championship.

2008 has been Niall's most challenging year yet competing in the Relentless GP125 Championship, one of the support races for the British Superbikes. For the last six races of the season Niall had the chance to ride for the Banks Racing Team, something which he has thoroughly enjoyed. With Banks Racing Niall achieved a podium finish and two top-ten qualifying positions in a field of up to forty riders in what was his Rookie Season. In 2008 Niall was the Winner of the 60th Scottish Road Races GP 125 Class at Knockhill.

In 2009 Niall plans to race in the 600 Class in both the Scottish and British Superbike Championships.
